7.13 EXP | The Smiley Face Killer Theory and Halloween Tangents

In our search for Halloween mysteries - stories of vanishings when the veil is thin. But one disappearance kept pulling me back. The case of Chris Jenkins - a college athlete who stepped out of a Minneapolis bar on Halloween night, 2002… and never came home.

What began as a tragic, allegedly accidental drowning unraveled into something far stranger: a trail of anomalies connecting to an uncanny pattern stretching across the country, and a theory that would come to be known as The Smiley Face Killers.

In this episode, we'll introduce some of the cases that are linked to this pattern before tracing it to a string of possibly connected recent deaths - a wave of “accidental” drownings in Austin’s Lady Bird Lake and then down to Houston’s bayous where the body count is climbing as we speak.
